Welcome!!
Welcome to Insurance Rate Info, a Blog dedicated to providing you with the information you need to find a good rate and a company that meets your needs.
To begin, let's talk about what to look for in an insurance company.
#1 Financial Stability.
AM Best - A worldwide insurance rating and information company. Founded in 1899 by Alfred M. Best www.ambest.com
Every year AM Best rates insurance companys based on their financial strength as follows:
A++, A+ (Superior)
B, B- (Fair)
A, A- (Excellent)
C++, C+ (Marginal)
B++, B+(Very Good)
C, C- (Weak)
D (Poor)
E (Under Regulatory Supervision)
F (In Liquidation)
S (Rating Suspended)
The optimal company would have an A++ rating.
Another thing to consider is customer service. It is important to look into the companys customer service track record. What good is an insurance policy if the company doesn't employ competent agents who can handle your claim? This information is available here http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/personal-finance/car-insurance-306/overview.htm.
The next thing you should think about is your driving history, and that of the other drivers in your household. If you or any of the other drivers in your household have a very poor driving history, you may want to find an Independant agent who represents many companys. This gives you an advantage because independant agents are able to work with many companies to find the best rate for you.
you should also consider your lifestyle. If you work late hours, then a traditional agent may be a poor choice for you. Many times you will find that your agent is not open during hours that are convinient for you. In this case you would do well with a direct insurer who offers 24hr service. Many insurance companies now have websites where you can get a free insurance rate quote. The best advice is to get as many quotes as possible, and reaserch the company before you sign up. After all you may be depending on them in a great time of need one day!!
Some Auto Insurance companies-
Geico Government Employees Insurance Company Geico.com
Geico Motorcycle
Free State Farm insurance rate quote, statefarm.com
Farmers insurance
allstate insurance
esurance.com
AIG
Atlanta Casualty
SAFECO
Orion
Windsor
There are many choices out there, And much to remember when getting a quote.
To get a good quote follow these steps:
Keep your mouth shut!! Just answer the questions you are asked. Many times people tend to offer information that the agent didn't know. If you never reported an accident, the agent doesn't know about it and therefor wont charge you for it, unless you tell them about it, and then they have to charge you.
Give your real zip code Many people give false zip codes when getting insurance quotes. This is known as rate jumping, trying to get a better rate by claiming to store your vehicle in a more desirable location. The problem is, if you get away with it you will only save a few bucks a year on average, and if you have a claim the insurance company WILL find out that you lied about the location where you keep your vehicle and may deny your claim.
Always keep your vehicle in a garage
Even if you don't keep your vehicle in a garage, YOU KEEP YOUR VEHICLE IN A GARAGE, WINK WINK. This can save you ALOT of money. Don't be stupid though, if you don't own a garage, or if you couldn't plausibly keep your vehicle in your garage, don't say you do. If you don't know why, refer to why you shouldn't give a false zip code. And just FYI, for an insurance company to accept a risk you must have care custody and control over said vehicle. That means that if you shouldn't tell them you park it at you mom's because she has a garage. This will not help you, infact it may cause you to be rejected.
